Minor cosmetic skin surgery & thread veins
Surgical Procedures
Removal of moles, skin tags, and other skin lesions for cosmetic reasons is not always provided by the NHS.
We appreciate that moles and skin tags can cause embarrassment and affect one's confidence.
We therefore provide a range of treatments such as surgical removal, cryotherapy (freezing) and cautery (burning) to remove such problems.
Thread Vein Removal
Fine thread veins on the body or face can be removed by micro-sclerotherapy (injection into the thread veins) or thermocoagulation (coming soon).
For your peace of mind
All treatments are carried out by Dr Xavier who will advise you of the different options during your initial consultation.
Anything surgically removed from your skin will be sent to a laboratory for examination under a microscope.
Before any treatment commences, your skin will be examined thoroughly and if any further specialist dermatological advice is required you will be advised accordingly.

Your Questions Answered
|
Which conditions can be treated?
A complimentary consultation will determine whether the skin problem is suitable for dermatological surgery. Appropriate skin blemishes include the following:
- Skin tags
- Moles & benign skin birthmarks
- Crusting skin lesions
- Simple or sebaceous cysts
- Wart - like blemishes
Sometimes it is obvious that a blemish is safe (benign). However, anything removed will be sent to a laboratory for analysis to ensure it is safe.
What does the surgical procedure involve?
A small injection of local anaesthetic is used to numb the area.
Curettage and Cautery - involves the removal of very superficial tissue using a special surgical instrument therefore causing minimal scarring. If necessary the area is then cauterised.
Scalpel/Minor surgery - involves excising the blemish using a scalpel. A couple of stitches are then required to achieve the best cosmetic result.
What about after care?
The wound will be dressed and should be kept dry for a few days. Stitches will be removed after 7 to 14 days.
Are there any side effects?
As with all surgical procedures there is a small risk of infection and scarring, which will be discussed prior to your treatment.
