We are constantly bombarded by high-profile TV and marketing campaigns from many in the cosmetics industry, which exist to create a very glossy, upmarket and intensely desirable image for its brands but, this glossy marketing prevents us from finding and using skincare regimes that are scientifically proven to be effective.

Whatever their claims, most over-the-counter products do not and cannot penetrate into the living layers of skin and they have no active biological effect on the skin. If they did, they would be re-classified as medical products rather than cosmetics and regulated accordingly.
